History

Tre Sorelle Cioccolato was established in 2006 as a catalog business by Jan Beck and Judi Horchler. The name of the company translates from Italian as Three Sisters Chocolates. There are three sisters in the Beck family but only Jan and Judi are in the business. Our brother keeps trying to get “brother” added to the name but has not succeeded.

Our mother, Theresa Cimicata Beck, has been our inspiration for cooking and candy making our entire lives and so we honor her memory by reflecting her Italian heritage in our products.

In November 2007, we opened our store at 634 Columbus Ave. in Sandusky, Ohio. The Tudor style building, erected in 1916, housed florist shops for most of its existence. We find the brick building and the rustic interior add to the Old World charm we want for Tre Sorelle Cioccolato.

We offer a variety of hand-crafted chocolates specializing in ganache filled candies and truffles. Our products are made with the freshest ingredients available to us. We use a Belgian blend of chocolates by Berry Callibaut company and our covertures are from the American manufacturer E Guittard. We have worked extensively with our local vintner, Firelands Winery, to create a line of wine infused chocolates. Firelands Winery imports a line of Italian wines and liquors which blend well with chocolate. We specialize in Ice Wine Truffles, Merlot Truffles, Limoncello Truffles as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Blackberry, Raspberry Champagne, Sherry, and Port chocolates.
